What is Trend Genius and what does it do?

X (Formerly Twitter) has introduced ‘Trend Genius’ an AI-powered advertising tool that allows brands to tap into real-time trends on the app. According to X, “When it comes to effective advertising, X brings it all together: the right place, right audience, now at the right time.” This tool monitors and detects rising discussions and allows brands to place their ads when relevant conversations peak. Here’s how it works:

Advertisers choose specific conversation topics. Let’s say a fashion brand that wants to capitalize on the buzz around the latest Paris Fashion Week selects this event as a conversation topic for its ads.

As discussions about these selected topics gain momentum on X, Trend Genius deploys pre-programmed ads aligned with these trends. Based on our example above, as Paris Fashion Week kicks off and people begin to talk about it, Trend Genius automatically publishes the fashion brand's pre-programmed ads right when the discussion peaks. It makes sure the brand’s latest collection is visible during the most relevant moments.

Finally, once the buzz around Paris Fashion Week dies down and conversations become less frequent, Trend Genius automatically pauses the fashion brand’s ads. This prevents the ads from running when they're less relevant and helps avoid unnecessary spending.
