Threads now has over 100 million daily active users, CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced in a Threads post yesterday. This is up from its 275 million users in November.

Zuckerberg noted that Threads is seeing significant growth. “Threads strong momentum continues,” he wrote. He also shared that Threads has more than 300 million monthly active users.

Confirming the surge, Instagram Chief, Adam Mosseri said the platform now has 300 million monthly active users. “Threads now has 300M monthly actives and 100M daily actives. A big thank you to this rapidly growing community — we're making something special together, and we'll focus on making it even better next year,” Mosseri shared in his announcement.

Competitors with X and Bluesky on the rise

In May, Threads announced that it reached 200 million monthly active users just over a year after its launch. Last month, Adam Mosseri noted that the platform has seen a million sign-ups per day for three months

Despite its growth, Threads faces competition from platforms like X and Bluesky. As of May, X reported 600 million monthly users, while Bluesky has gained traction, surpassing 25 million users in recent weeks. Bluesky also claims to deliver three times more traffic to publishers compared to Threads and X.

A recent report suggests Meta will begin testing ads on Threads by early 2025. Zuckerberg previously indicated that monetization efforts could roll out if Threads surpasses one billion users.

Its rival, Bluesky, seems to be maintaining a no-ads strategy, though it’s exploring a paid subscription model that will include features such as longer video uploads, customizable app icons, profile badges, and profile personalization tools.
