SocialAI is a new, Twitter-like diary app where bots reply to your posts
SocialAI is a new social platform similar to Twitter and Threads. Like these apps, it allows users to post, comment, reply, and like comments. However, it is different from these platforms and offers a unique twist.
What makes SocialAI different from other social media platforms?
Instead of engaging with other human users, SocialAI allows users to interact with AI bots. The platform is built entirely on AI interactions. Every reply and comment to users’ posts is artificially generated.
Once users sign up, they can customize their interactions by choosing from 32 different types of bots, such as “supporters,” “trolls,” “cheerleaders” or “critics.” For instance, if users want opposing views, they can customize their profile by selecting “critics.” However, a minimum of three types of category is allowed.
The platform is designed to learn and adapt to user engagement over time. The more users interact with the bots, the more the AI system adapts and learns from their preferences to refine the feedback it delivers.
As the sole human users, users have complete control over their interactions within the app. If certain bot responses don’t suit their preferences, they can easily adjust their selections. This allows users to shape their online experience according to their needs.
The vision behind SocialAI
Founded by Michael Sayman, a former Facebook developer, SocialAI bills itself as the first pure “AI Social Network,” where you’re the only real user, surrounded by a customizable cast of digital characters programmed to engage, encourage, or even challenge your thoughts.
Sayman said that his vision for SocialAI is rooted in the desire to create a safe, private space where users can freely express themselves without the noise and judgment often found on traditional social platforms. The idea of SocialAI was to create a “magical diary” that combines the feel of social media with the privacy of a personal journal, he explained.
Users reactions
The launch of SocialAI has sparked mixed reactions among users, with opinions ranging from excitement to skepticism.
Sandasaar highlighted the novelty of the platform, tweeting “Your New Followers Are AI Bots! From AI-generated comments on LinkedIn to entire social networks filled with AI followers and viewers, we're entering a new era of social interaction. You can now be the main character, receive reactions and comments in SocialAI, and experience.”
Jack Cohen praised SocialAI, calling it a “great example of AI for good” that combats loneliness. However, some users argue it could lead to the opposite effect, with one response to Cohen’s tweet noting, “It will create more loneliness.” Andrew Birmingham added that honesty in setting up your profile is key to getting the most out of the platform.
Other users expressed concerns about the platform's concept. Magickfartz said, “There is nothing social about SocialAI. It’s inherently antisocial.” Geeknik offered a more dystopian perspective, saying, “SocialAI isn’t just an app—it’s a mirror reflecting the dystopia we’ve already embraced. Imagine every comment, every interaction, every voice—all AI. No humans left to troll or praise you; it’s just you and your synthetic army of bots.”
SocialAI is currently available for free download on iOS.
