Meta’s AI Studio has officially launched in the United States, allowing users to create, share, and explore personalized AI characters. According to Meta, AI Studio is powered by Llama 3.1 and it “lets anyone create and discover AI characters and allows creators to build an AI as an extension of themselves to reach more fans.”

What’s in for creators and users with Meta’s AI Studio

Meta's AI Studio lets Instagram creators build custom AI chatbots to interact with followers and manage high-volume messages. So, instead of manually responding to messages, influencers can create a personalized AI chatbot to answer common questions, respond to comments, and engage with their audience. 

Speaking on the development, Connor Hayes, VP of Product for AI Studio at Meta via Engadget, explains that creators can use their content and instructions to train their AI characters, allowing these AIs to act as "extensions" of themselves. He observed, “These creators can actually use the comments that they've made, the captions that they've made, the transcripts of the Reels that they've posted, as well as any custom instructions or links that they want to provide … so that the AI can answer on their behalf.” 

Also, Meta’s AI Studio enables any user to create and share their own AI characters. These AI characters can be personalized with unique names, tones, and avatars. Therefore, Instagrammers can customize their AI characters with unique names, personalities, and appearances that reflect their style.

How Meta’s AI Studio works

Any user can build their AI characters. Also, users can access various templates or create an AI from scratch for different tasks. These AIs can be private or shared with your followers and made accessible on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and the web.

How to build your AI character using Meta’s AI Studio

Follow these steps to create a character:

1. Open your web browser and go to ai.meta.com/ai-studio. Alternatively, open Instagram, start a new direct message (DM), and tap on “Create an AI chat.”

2. Choose a name for your AI character that reflects your brand or personality. For instance, if you’re a fitness influencer, you can name your AI based on this. 

3. Decide on the tone and style of your AI’s responses. For instance, if your brand is fun and upbeat, set the personality to be energetic and friendly.

4. Determine how formal or casual the AI should be. For a professional look, you might choose a formal tone or a casual tone.

5. Upload or select an image for your AI character. Simply select an Avatar that fits your personality. 

6. After customizing, test your AI by interacting with it to see how it responds. Once satisfied, launch the AI chat on Instagram, and it will start interacting with your followers.
