LinkedIn has released its latest Global Marketing Jobs Outlook Report. The report provides data on the shifts in the marketing industry based on LinkedIn platform trends. It shows growth in job postings, changing workplace dynamics, and the increasing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the sector.
LinkedIn claims the findings are based on LinkedIn platform usage and a survey of 2,049 marketing professionals. conducted in partnership with Ipsos.
Growth in marketing job postings
LinkedIn reported that marketing jobs saw an increase compared to last year. Data from the report found a 76% year-over-year increase in global marketing job postings. In 2023, marketing job postings saw a 42% decline.
Within the current growth, B2B marketing roles saw a 21% increase. This shows a strong demand for specialized skills in the sector.
Job satisfaction and challenges
The data found that most marketers are satisfied with their jobs. LinkedIn says 91% of B2B marketers expressed satisfaction with their current roles. However, the pace of change in the industry is a concern. 72% of marketers feel overwhelmed by the rapid changes and 53% worry about falling behind in their careers.
Workplace shifts
Marketers are also experiencing significant workplace changes. The top three trends include 55% integrating AI into daily tasks, 31% working remotely, and 28% working in an office setting. However, the report emphasizes that continuous learning is critical, with 51% of marketers seeking guidance on skill development to remain competitive.
AI’s growing impact
With the impact of AI on marketing jobs, the report found that 54% of marketers believe AI will significantly alter their work within a year. However, 59% are already using AI tools in handling their responsibilities, and 61% expect greater impacts of AI in the industry within five years.
Emerging skills for marketers
LinkedIn highlighted the top emerging skills based on platform data. According to the platform, the three emerging skills are Creative Execution at 443%, Artificial Intelligence at 392%, and Marketing Technology at 351%.
