Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to comment directly on Stories. Previously, users could only respond to Stories by sending private messages directly to the creator.

With this new feature, users can comment directly and openly converse with each other on Instagram Stories.

How the new feature works

To comment on a Story, users and posters must be mutual followers. The comments, like the Stories themselves, will be temporary. Comments will disappear after 24 hours.

Users can also toggle the comment feature on or off for any Story they share.

In recent times, Instagram has been rolling out various features. The platform has made ‘Views’ the primary metric for all content formats and has its feed rankings linked to Threads activity.

Instagram has also introduced music for profiles, a "Reveal" feature to hide Stories until followers send a DM, and disappearing “notes” on grid posts and Reels.
