Google is set to introduce a feature in its Merchant Center that will allow retailers to track the latest shopping trends. The company announced on Tuesday that “users of the new Merchant Center globally will be able to explore shopping trends for retailers.”

According to Jeff Harrell, Senior Director of Google Merchant Shopping, the tool will display popular search queries, ranked by their popularity and categorized by topics and products.

How the shopping trends feature will work

The shopping trends feature will rank popular shopping queries and allow retailers to see which products and search terms are viral.

Google claimed that the tool will help retailers understand what shoppers are looking for, so they can align their products based on shoppers’ interests and searches. “This means you can jump on viral moments, make better-informed inventory decisions, and ensure your product descriptions use the same terms shoppers are,” Harrell explained.
