Google has brought back shopping and product results in Google AI Overviews. Some users are noticing product carousels appearing in AI Overviews for product-focused searches, blending commercial and informational content.

Aleyda Solis, confirmed this in a tweet, emphasizing its importance for businesses focusing on commercial intent. She noted, “I've identified product carousels getting again triggered for product-focused queries with a mix of commercial/informational intent, which are right now ranked by a mix of guides and category pages.”

She explained that when users click on these carousels, they trigger "product knowledge panels," which take them straight to Product Detail Pages (PDPs).

Aleyda also said Google showed similar product carousels for a large share of commercial searches in the initial tests, but it was not rolled out widely.

She advised retailers to focus on optimizing content, reviews, images, videos, and structured data to attract more visibility.
